Are you coming from JMM 2025? Here are my slides from the AMS Math Education Session and the Math Alliance Doctoral Scholars session.
I will be at this year's RUME in Alexandria, giving two solo presentations and one collaboration presentation, and helping out with a working group! I'll post the slides for my two solo talks here after.
Hello, my name is Johan Cristobal, a fifth-year graduate student and Doctoral Candidate in the Mathematics Department at University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), graduating in May 2025! I am advised by Dr. Yvonne Lai. I bring an interdisciplinary approach to my research, teaching, and mentorship. I aim to understand more about instructors' and students' frames of teaching and learning of mathematics in post-secondary contexts. I bring my interest in partial differential equations to the world of education research by asking "why is that?" often to question why is it instructors do the things they do. Most formative and informative to my research and mentoring are the critical education theories and culturally relevant/sustaining pedagogies.
